Donald Phelps was born in Cincinnati Ohio on May 9, 1970.  Creativity has always been at the core of who he is.  Whether it be drawing as a young child, or through the creation of music, which is still a big part of life for him now. 

Donald moved to Atlanta in 1989 to continue his education at the Art Institute of Atlanta. During this time photography became a major component in his life.  The ability to capture a moment in time forever is appealing to him for the simple fact that time is fleeting, and to be able to preserve it for others to see and experience was an awakening to Donald. 

Donald has been a “Student of Photography” for 19 plus years now.  He started shooting film with his mother’s old Nikon FM, but has since converted to digital in 2001.  Still shooting with Nikon cameras along the way.  He now shoots with a Nikon D200.

Donald ran a successful photography & digital imaging company for 9 years called DPI².  Photographing weddings, portraits, photo restoration, and printing. 

Besides being a photographer, Donald is also a Captain for the Anderson Ferry.  Taking cars and passengers across the Ohio River.  Donald’s other interests include music (playing guitar, piano), Reading non-fiction, gardening, astronomy, bird watching, and being the world’s greatest dad.
